DUTCH QUARTER--Students at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School will have a brand new uniform option when the 2026-2027 school year begins on August 17, with the upcoming school year designated as a transition period allowing students to wear either the existing or new uniform.

The proposed uniform change was submitted to the Division of Public Education for review, and no objection was raised.
The Cabinet of the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (ECYS) told “The Daily Herald” that according to information provided by the school, the new uniform was proposed in response to concerns about the durability and overall presentation of the existing uniform.
The revised uniform is intended to improve quality, comfort and practicality while strengthening the school’s identity and maintaining affordability for families.
Students will not be required to immediately switch to the new uniform. During the 2026-2027 school year, students may wear either the existing uniform or the new uniform, giving families a transition period.
The Division of Public Education was previously advised that the school began notifying parents about the proposed uniform change in April 2026, before the end of the school year.
The school indicated that information was also shared through class communication channels.
Parents were also informed that the 2026-2027 school year would serve as a transition period during which students could continue wearing the existing uniform.
Additional information about the availability of the new uniform was shared after stock was confirmed at the end of June.
