Money talks

The Ministry of Finance organised a round-table conference on Sustainable Financial Government with the Netherlands, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Committee for Financial Supervision CFT on Tuesday. Topics covered were liquidity support for Government, the application of 550 million euros from the Netherlands, benefits of services offered by the World Bank and IMF, in collaboration with CFT.

Finance Minister Michael Ferrier presented information on St. Maarten’s 2017 and 2018 budgets. With now-shared understanding of the way forward, Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin and Ferrier are to visit the Netherlands to continue talks with the Dutch Government. Dutch Reconstruction Project for the Windward Islands Director-General Hans Leijtens, Head of the Dutch Representation in Philipsburg Chris Johnson and other government officials were at the conference moderated by National Recovery Plan Workgroup Chairman Dennis Richardson
