Silveria Jacobs
PHILIPSBURG–National Alliance (NA) leader Member of Parliament (MP) Silveria Jacobs will again head the party’s slate for the upcoming snap parliamentary election set for January 9, 2020.
The Daily Herald understands that sitting NA MPs will also rank high on the party’s slate. In addition to Jacobs, other NA MPs include Christophe Emmanuel, William Marlin, Ardwell Irion and Egbert “Jurendy” Doran.
Jacobs was elected as the new NA leader on January 2, 2018, and took over the helm of the party from former leader William Marlin, with Rodolphe Samuel as deputy. Jacobs headed the party’s slate in the 2018 snap election and obtained 896 votes, up from 776, making her the second-highest vote-getter of that election and the highest one for her party.
NA obtained 4,139 votes in the 2018 election, which represented 30.54 per cent of the 13,953 voters who went to the polls, and the party obtained five seats in the 15-seat legislature. The party captured 361 votes more than it did in 2016.
