WILLEMSTAD–Member of Parliament (MP) for Curaçao coalition partner PAIS Marilyn Mozes has resigned from the party to continue as independent parliamentarian.
The exact reasons for this decision are not known yet, since Mozes is not giving any statements to the media.
On her Facebook page she stated the following: “I am now an independent member of parliament of Curaçao. I do not and will not continue to support government’s actions against the people of Curaçao. I thank everyone for their continual support and I am looking forward to continue working for you.”
PAIS was said to be in an emergency meeting and nobody of the party’s top was available to answer questions.
Mozes’ decision means that the PS/PAIS/PNP/Sulvaran government has lost its minimal majority of 11 in the 21-seat legislature. Elections are currently due in the latter part of 2016.
