MARIGOT—Vice-Prosecutor Michaël Ohayon confirmed Wednesday afternoon a murder investigation is under way following the discovery of a man apparently shot to death while in his parked car.
The man was found at 11:10am on Tuesday in French Cul-de-Sac on the approach to Grand Cayes Beach. A Gendarmerie patrol and a forensics team were dispatched to the site.
The Gendarmerie in its release on Wednesday indicated the state of the body showed that death was caused by a firearm. This was subsequently confirmed from examination by a doctor and a scan that was done later.
According to sources the deceased was a 36-year-old European male. Inside the car was the man’s traumatised dog which was rescued by staff from the I Love My Island Dog Association and returned to the victim’s family.
The investigation is being handled by the Detectives Department (Brigade des Recherches.)
