ST. EUSTATIUS–Statian Nadjesca Henriquez is the new St. Eustatius Compulsory Education Officer. Her past work has all been in the education sector, ranging from teaching at secondary schools, working at universities to providing student support services to students from Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba BES and St. Maarten. Henriquez said after having lived in the Netherlands for some years and having built up quite some experience, she decided to move back home to apply her knowledge to better her community.

“I’ve had a slow start since I’ve been back to the island. However, I have been granted the opportunity to carry out the function of a Compulsory Education Officer,” she said.

The post can be challenging “at times,” but she does look forward to these challenges and to contributing to her island.

Henriquez obtained a Bachelor’s degree in teaching General Economics and Business Economics (in Dutch: Docent Algemene Economie and Docent Bedrijfseconomie) in the Netherlands after completing her secondary studies on Statia and St. Maarten.
