ANGUILLA–On July 16 and 17 a National Youth Leaders’ Summit was held hosted by the Department of Youth and Culture and the National Youth Council. The theme was “Youth leading the way forward: Facing the future together.” The facilitator for the summit was Christopher Richardson.
On the first day the dialogue was around the five levels of leadership and this created much enthusiasm among the leaders. On the second day the focus was on positional leadership and how leaders can influence and inspire their members to build a successful organisation. The sessions strengthened the leaders’ resolve to improve on these qualities by learning from opportunities and threats that they may encounter.
The last session on the second day was to elect a new executive board for the National Youth Council. The new President is Neil Gumbs, Vice President Damanie Campbell, Secretary Carina Richardson, Treasurer Soya Williams, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer Alvanique Frank and Public Relations Officer Devon Carter. The Youth Council serves to protect the interests of all youth, youth groups and affiliated organisations in Anguilla, and aims to advance and promote the general welfare and social progress on youth and the people of Anguilla.
