2017 Junior Queen Show winner Cathryn Sanchez, Government Commissioner Marcolino “Mike” Franco and DARE2Care Statia representative Cherida Creebsburg.
ST. EUSTATIUS–New DARE2Care Campaign was launched during St. Eustatius Carnival with an unveiling of a campaign billboard at Carnival Village.
The billboard was unveiled by Government Commissioner Marcolino “Mike” Franco at Mike van Putten Youth Centre. The new campaign goal is to raise awareness of domestic violence and child abuse.
The unveiling came after a silent march to the Youth Centre to raise awareness of domestic violence and child abuse.
Franco spoke briefly at the unveiling where he asked everyone to be conscious of what is taking place in some houses on the island, and to be aware if they see signs of abuse to report it the authorities when they see it happening.
Cherida Creebsburg, representative of Dare2Care Statia said, “With awareness, we bring education and education is information. We all know that in each community of the world there is domestic violence and with this going on, we and the government of St. Eustatius, want to bring awareness”.
Dare2Care Statia is also having a contest where persons can win 2 roundtrip tickets from Statia to St. Maarten and help raise awareness for a good cause.
Persons can make a selfie at Mike van Putten Youth Centre and post it with the hashtag #DARE2CARESTATIA. The winner will be announced on August 1.
