New date for workshop for examination students | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–Tuesday, August 28, is the new date for the workshop entitled “Applying for a US Student Visa or Canadian Study Permit,” which will be held at University of St. Martin (USM)from 5:15pm to 6:45pm.

The free workshop, organised by the Education Ministry’s Student Support Services Division (SSSD), had to be postponed by two days due to “unforeseen circumstances,” SSSD said in a press release.
During the workshop, information will be given on the application process for obtaining a United States (US) student visa and Canadian study permit. Students who are looking to apply to schools in the US or Canada can attend the workshop to learn a step-by-step approach on completing the application process.
“The process can seem overwhelming and confusing; however, SSSD will help students to better understand the process,” it was stated in the release.
Students who do not possess a US passport, US permanent residence (green card), Canadian passport, or Canadian permanent residence are considered international students in the US and Canada. Applying for a student visa ties into immigration matters; therefore, it is essential that students are aware of the procedure and take care in preparing their application. SSSD said improper preparation or incomplete applications can delay the process at the embassy.
Students and parents are encouraged to contact SSSD at 543-1235 for more information or to register for the workshop. They can also visit the SSSD office in the Amigo Building across from the police station and next to Windward Islands Bank.
