PHILIPSBURG–In an effort to give consumers more locations to purchase their grocery and household items and to keep some of his many employees on the payroll, Anil Sabnani has opened a new supermarket in the Sang’s Supermarket building on the Juancho Yrausquin Boulevard.
The supermarket named Fairway Market, opened on Monday and will continue to open daily to serve customers, Sabnani told The Daily Herald on Tuesday. The Fairway Market sign is not yet up on the building. It is expected to be erected soon.
Customers will be able to purchase a range of supermarket products including dry goods, some frozen products, grocery items, cleaning and household products at the establishment. Shelves will continue to be stocked in the coming days so that consumers can have more options to purchase. Containers with more goods are also expected in the country in the coming days with fresh produce.
“At the end of the day, I have many staff members and to keep my staff employed and also to relieve the pressure to find food items we decided to open Fairway Market,” Sabnani said.
He decided to rent the Sang’s Building to open the supermarket. “One of the key factors is to keep a location for customers to go to.”
Sabnani called on customers to be patient with the establishment as there are currently some refrigeration issues that have to be repaired as damage was sustained during the passage of Hurricane Irma. The refrigeration issues are expected to be resolved and up and running again in a few weeks.
