New TEATT Minister visits Airport Monday

AIRPORT–The Princess Juliana International Airport SXM Managing Board hosted a tour for new Minister of Justice and Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (TEATT) Cornelius de Weever on Monday.

The Managing Board members included Chief Operating Officer (COO), Michel Hyman and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ravi Daryanani. The walkthrough tour included an up-close and personal look into the damaged terminal building.
The airport suffered severe damage as a result of Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017, which recorded wind speeds of up to 240mph at the facility.
De Weever confirmed that he was quite pleased with the impromptu tour and thanked the Managing Board for hosting him on such short notice.
The board is also slated to deliver a presentation to the Council of Ministers on Friday, January 19. “We are committed to keep the Council of Ministers updated on the progress of the rebuilding and ongoing operations of the Princess Juliana International Airport,” said Hyman in an Airport press release Monday.
