CAY HILL–National Institute for Professional Advancement (NIPA) has signed a service level agreement with Argos St. Maarten N.V.

The two parties signed the agreement during a press conference at NIPA on Monday, based on the premise of working in partnership to provide technical and expert support for construction/masonry students currently enrolled in NIPA.

As part of the agreement Argos will supply cement-related products, organise site visits to the St. Maarten location for students, arrange lectures with its network of experts and share knowledge and best practices with trainees regarding its products and processes.

“This agreement will be the starting point of the next chapter for Argos in St. Maarten. Through this agreement we can share the experience we have as a cement company and how we positively impact the construction industry on the island. It is an honour for Argos to be part of programmes like this, that aim for the growth and empowerment of our people and the overall social and cultural development of this country,” said Argos Antilles General Director Edgar Martínez.

“Based on our company’s purpose to help build dreams that boost development and transform lives, we are constantly on the lookout for opportunities that contribute to the communities where we have operations. In this case, education plays an important role for us to meet our purpose; that is why we decided to work with NIPA, which is willing to join us in this endeavour.”

After the signing of the agreement, NIPA board chairwoman Peggy Ann Dros-Richardson expressed the importance of partnerships with organisations like Argos. “At NIPA we speak a lot about training, and education, but it doesn’t end there. It is of utmost importance that students grow from education and training to work experience and internships. This remains a top priority at NIPA in close collaboration with the government of St. Maarten, but cannot be done without the engagement of industry partners.”

The agreement was effective upon signing on Monday, with a one-year duration. The 60 students currently enrolled in the construction/masonry programme will benefit from this new agreement.
