POND ISLAND–All taxpayers, in particular businesses, who must pay their turnover and other taxes by the fifteenth of each month have a one-day extension on paying Government. Monthly taxes for April only are due by April 16.
Finance Minister Mike Ferrier announced the extension on Wednesday, citing that April 15 is a Sunday.
This additional day for businesses to meet their tax obligations is not for everyone to crowd the Government Administration Building on April 16. Rather, the Receiver’s Office will accept payment on Saturday, April 14. The extraordinary opening will be from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Ferrier said six cashier windows will be open to taxpayers. “We don’t want to make it too difficult for people to give us money.”
The additional opening day is also to help Government to catch up with collections after a week-long shutdown due to the Easter Monday cyber-attack.
