ANGUILLA–Twenty-one students from the University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus Anguilla are amongst the 703 graduands slated for official graduation at the Open Campus 2018 Presentation of Graduates Ceremony in St. Lucia, on Saturday, October 13.
Six of the graduands will be travelling to St. Lucia with family and friends for the formal graduation. Also attending from Anguilla will be Manager for the UWI British Overseas Territories, Dr. Phyllis Fleming-Banks. The official ceremony is scheduled for 10:00am and will be preceded by the graduands’ and chancellor’s processions.
Twelve of the graduands from Anguilla will receive their Master’s degrees in Management Studies, Educational Leadership, Literacy Instruction and Instructional Design and Technology. Nine will receive undergraduate degrees in Management/Business Studies, Human Resource Management, Educational Leadership and Management and Youth Development Work. Four will receive distinctions while three Management Studies students will graduate with first class honours.
The local graduands were congratulated and toasted by the staff of the UWI Open Campus Anguilla at a special Pre-Graduation Ceremony on Friday, October 5.
During the Ceremony, the University will also confer Honorary Doctorate of Laws degrees on the Chief Justice Janice Mesadis Pereira from the British Virgin Islands, for her service to the legal profession; and Larry Quinlan from St. Kitts and Nevis for his influence and work in leadership at the global level. After the official presentation ceremony, the new graduates and their guests will celebrate their academic achievements at an official reception hosted by the government and people of St. Lucia.
