ST. EUSTATIUS–St. Eustatius has a new hotel with Orange Bay Hotel opening its doors on Thursday. This milestone is not only one for Statia, but for Managing Director Claudia Wickert and husband Bob who described the opening as “a dream in the making.”
The hotel’s new website – www.orangebayhotel.com – was launched to promote the venture.
Statians joined the couple as they celebrate the launch of the eight-bedroom hotel that will be extended soon with “cabanas” – personalized beach units.
“The hotel now forms part of the Harbour Club restaurant where hotel guests will enjoy a continental breakfast in full view of the Orange Bay,” Wickert told The Daily Herald. “We want to extend our business with the addition of a bar as well as a meeting room that will be created with monumental integrity within the 17th century ruins of the hotel land.”
“We are absolutely thrilled with our investment in this hotel and the community of the Historical Gem. Statia has a wonderful future based on a wonderful present and past,” Wickert said. “And we are delighted to be part of all of that.”
Orange Bay Hotel bookings are described as “bright” and “business/diver-oriented.”
