Parliament’s Permanent Committee to meet today

PHILIPSBURG–Parliament’s Permanent Committee for Kingdom Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations (CKAIR) will meet during a session at 9:00am today.

  This will be the first of two meetings scheduled for today, Tuesday. The CKAIR Committee meeting was originally scheduled for October 26, 2017. The agenda includes approval of the CKAIR decision list for the 2016-2017 Parliamentary Year.

  Also on the agenda are a debriefing on the Inter-Parliamentary Kingdom Consultations IPKO, which took place in Oranjestad, Aruba, January 9-11; preparations for the next IPKO set for May/June 2018 in the Netherlands: IPKO workgroups and proposed agenda points; preparation for the Tripartite in May 2018; and incoming documents.

  Several other meetings are scheduled for this week.

  A meeting of the Central Committee of Parliament will be held on Wednesday, January 24, for discussions with the market square vendors about “the injustices against their livelihood by the Government of St. Maarten.” Also on the agenda for that meeting is the advice to fill the position of substitute member of the General Audit Chamber.

  Justice Minister Cornelius de Weever will be in Parliament on Thursday, January 25, to discuss the Draft National Ordinance containing general measures concerning the administrative enforcement of statutory regulations (National Ordinance Administrative Enforcement): In Dutch: “Ontwerp van Landsverordening houdende algemene regels inzake de bestuurlijke handhaving van wettelijke voorschriften (Landsverordening bestuurlijke handhaving).”
