A protest gathering against the 3.5 per cent decrease in benefits of the Pension Fund Caribbean Netherlands PCN per April 1 was held in Bonaire’s Parke Wilhelmina on Monday. The island’s united labour unions Usibo announced talks with local employers involved such as national service RCN, the Public Body and healthcare foundation Mariadal, to see what still can be done. Options include having them make an extra deposit in the public sector fund to get it back up to the desired level or again raising the premium paid by active contributors, so that the cut is no longer needed.
