PHILIPSBURG–Philipsburg Jubilee Library will be closed on Monday, June 18, and Monday, June 25, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, to continue salvaging materials before the peak of the hurricane season and the Library’s possible departure from its current building.
The impact of Hurricane Irma in September 2017 left the Library in a devastating state. The Library cannot withstand another hit from a passing hurricane and rainfall and humidity are causing further deterioration of materials.
Therefore, the regular inventory works are scheduled and may continue to store all materials as much as possible as the hurricane season has commenced.
The Library apologizes for the inconvenience this may cause to patrons. Patrons who must return items on the dates mentioned will be compensated as the system is programmed to automatically renew their materials.
As of Tuesday, June 19, and Tuesday, June 26, the Library will resume its services during the regular opening hours from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The Library will continue offering its customers access to a limited range of library materials, including the children’s collection and a small selection of adult fiction and non-fiction and DVDs.
The Internet Café, a lounge area and a newly improvised study area in the garden under the tent will also be open, as well as photocopy service.
