MARIGOT–President of the Collectivité Daniel Gibbs has expressed his condolences regarding the death of Pierre Brangé, a key figure in the local administration of the Collectivité.

“I am very saddened to learn of the death of Pierre Brangé who left us on Wednesday night,” Gibbs said in a statement. “Pierre was a very important figure in our Collectivité. He worked for the territorial administration for 16 years, demonstrating a flawless investment in the service of his island.

“He was a lawyer by training, passionate about law and economics. He was an expert on our organic law and the specifics of our territory. His expertise and knowledge of the files were particularly sought after and made him an essential part of the Collectivité.”

Pierre Brangé served as Assistant Director General DGA of the Economic Development Department before becoming former President Aline Hanson’s Cabinet Director in 2015.

“Pierre was an outstanding professional, and was also appreciated for his availability and good humour,” Gibbs added. “We will remember him as brilliant, cultivated, affable and a bon vivant, always ready to offer his contribution for the good of St. Martin. Pierre’s passing leaves a great void in the Collectivité. But his characteristic laughter will resonate long in the halls of the Collectivité and beyond.

“My thoughts go out to his mother Emilienne, his brother Jean, his partner Valérie, and his friends and family. I extend my sincere condolences on behalf of the Collectivité of St. Martin, the elected representatives of the Territorial Council and all the territorial agents who are grieving over this loss. Our caring and loving support accompanies them during this difficult time.”
