The day began with PJIAE’s first-ever participation in the annual Around-the-Island Relay Race, marking a milestone for the airport as an official team joined the popular island-wide event. The participation reflected teamwork, national pride, and the airport’s deep connection to the St. Maarten community.

Festivities continued at the airport terminal, where arriving passengers and employees were treated to freshly made johnny cakes and the lively rhythms of steel pan music. Ladies dressed in traditional St. Maarten attire warmly greeted travellers, creating a welcoming and culturally rich atmosphere that showcased the island’s spirit and hospitality.

The activities were coordinated by Devon Skeete of the Commercial Department, with the Corporate Communications Department leading the organization of the event and ensuring a joyful experience for all.

“It is always our pleasure to engage our guests and valued employees through meaningful cultural expressions,” the Corporate Communications Department said in a statement. “As the gateway to our island, we take great pride in sharing the warmth and traditions that make St. Maarten the Friendly Island.”

Princess Juliana International Airport reaffirmed its commitment to fostering community spirit and celebrating the cultural heritage that connects its staff, passengers, and the people of St. Maarten.
