PHILIPSBURG–Police continue to enforce law and order according to Prosecutor Spokesman Norman Serphos, who informed the media on Wednesday that two men were arrested for illegal firearms possession on Tuesday.
The arrests took place by members of the police force and have the initials of M.A.W. (Sint Maarten, 1980) and K.S. (Sint Maarten, 1996). Both men were ordered to remain in custody for 48 hours by an acting prosecutor. On September 13, their detention was confirmed by the Prosecutor.
The two will be presented to a judge of instruction after their 48 hours detention. Police said that the force is capable of handling investigations and enforcing order while there is a hectic environment due to the destruction of Hurricane Irma last week.
