Police Chief Albert Conner retires after 36 years of public service | THE DAILY HERALD

MARIGOT–Territorial Police Chief Albert Conner was honoured with a retirement party in Hotel de la Collectivité on Monday to mark the end of his working life after 36 years of service to the former Commune and the new Collectivité. He officially retired on May 31, 2018.

President Daniel Gibbs, Préfète Anne Laubies, Lt. Colonel Sébastien Manzoni from the Gendarmerie, Vice-Prosecutor Michaël Ohayon, police officer colleagues, Collectivité staff, Vice-President Annick Petrus, Territorial Councillors and representatives from partner institutions were all present to wish him well. Conner was much appreciated for his human and professional qualities.

Conner was among the first police officers of St. Martin Municipal Police. He took office under Mayor Elie Fleming in 1982, leaving under President Gibbs who retraced his career, recalling the highlights of his 36 years in St. Martin’s service.

Conner was appointed head of the Territorial Police in 2012 after the retirement of Commander Flavien Basile. He worked with his teams alongside the Gendarmerie for the security of the territory by focusing his interventions on prevention.

Préfète Anne Laubies praised his professional commitment and consistent availability. He was embraced by his colleagues, some of whom had become firm friends after many years of service. He is replaced at the head of the police by Jacqueline Rodriguez who officially took up her duties on June 1, 2018, and who has under her authority 30 police officers, one public road surveillance officer and three secretaries.

“You have exercised your mission as a police officer by bringing your professional knowledge and by promoting proximity with our fellow citizens,” said Gibbs. “The Collectivité of St. Martin thanks you and hopes you will take full advantage of free time offered to you after a long and outstanding career.

The President then officially welcomed Jacqueline Rodriguez in her role as head of the Territorial Police.
