PHILIPSBURG–In connection with Heineken Regatta this year, which started on Thursday and is set to end on Sunday, the Police Force reminds the public about the fines that will be issued to persons who do not behave properly.
The main venue for this event will be Kim Sha Beach in Simpson Bay and no parking will be allowed on Kim Sha beach on Saturday and Sunday due to the large number of visitors from abroad and persons from the community who will be attending the shows of this event.
The entire community is urged to give their fullest cooperation to the organisers of this event and to the police, to make this event a very successful one. Misconduct by anyone during the activities of the event can result in the person being arrested.
Not following commands by a police officer, disturbing public order, fighting in public (not ill-treatment), removing, replacing or taking down a police barricade can result in the person receiving a NAf. 150 (US $85) fine.
The fine for throwing bottles will be NAf. 375 ($212). Being in possession of a weapon (not a firearm) or an object to be used as such can result in a NAf. 625 ($354) fine, while resisting arrest will get you a NAf. 625 ($354) fine.
Other fines are: Not adhering to an order given by a police officer NAf. 375 ($212), insulting an officer on duty NAf. 375 ($212), verbal threat (not group/gang-related) NAf. 625 ($354), ill-treatment NAf. 750 ($424), destruction of property NAf. 300 ($170), public intoxication NAf. 150 ($85) and serving alcohol to persons under 18 NAf. 625 ($354).
