Police shoot man in the leg

SOUTH REWARD–Police officers responded to a call for assistance at a home on Arrow Root Drive on Tuesday at 4:20pm and encountered a middle age man threatening his family members with a knife. Police officers requested the man to drop the weapon and comply with their command but the man got even more aggressive, according to Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson.

Two warning shots were fired and the man swung the knife towards the police. One officer fired his weapon and shot the man known to the South Reward area as “Bollo” in the leg. An ambulance arrived shortly after the call from officers and the man was treated by the paramedics.
High ranking police officers rushed to the scene after the incident and forensic officers started to collect evidence at the home while detectives interviewed witnesses. The man remains under arrest while undergoing treatment at the St. Maarten Medical Center.
Henson said more details about the incident will be released to the press at a later time.
