THE BOTTOM/ORANJESTAD--The Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN) is urging residents and visitors to celebrate Carnival responsibly on Saba and St. Eustatius, reminding the public that officers will maintain a visible presence throughout the festivities.
In a statement issued ahead of Carnival 2026, KPCN said police will be deployed at events on both islands to maintain public order, assist residents and visitors, and respond quickly to incidents.
Police stressed that while they are committed to providing a safe environment, everyone attending Carnival has a responsibility to help ensure the celebrations remain safe and enjoyable.
KPCN warned that it has a zero-tolerance policy toward violence and disorderly conduct. Anyone involved in fights or other acts of violence faces immediate arrest.
The force also reminded the public that carrying weapons or objects that can be used to cause harm is prohibited. It urged party goers to avoid using glass bottles at events to reduce the risk of injuries.
Motorists were reminded not to drive under the influence of alcohol. Police said offenders risk arrest, fines and the suspension of their driver's licence.
KPCN also called on revellers to respect surrounding communities by avoiding excessive noise after Carnival events. Loud music and shouting after activities have ended are prohibited, and sound equipment may be confiscated if the rules are ignored.
Police urged the public to follow all instructions given by officers during the celebrations, noting that they are responsible for maintaining public order and coordinating emergency responses.
"KPCN will act against anyone whose behaviour threatens the safety of others or disrupts public order," the force said, encouraging everyone to look out for one another and help make Carnival a safe and memorable celebration.
In case of an emergency, the public is advised to call 911.
