Port named Cruisers’ Choice in 2018 Destinations Awards | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–Port St. Maarten was chosen by cruisers as one of the top ports of call in CruiseCritic.com Cruisers’ Choice 2018 top-five rated Eastern Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda Destinations awards despite the September 2017 storms.

The number two ranking of the port is based entirely on consumer ratings submitted with reviews on CruiseCritic.com. Rankings are based on member review ratings for cruises taken from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018. The awards named the top cruise destinations across 15 regions worldwide.

The comment of cruiser “Spence,” one of several profiled by Cruise Critic reads: “Took a taxi over to Maho Beach and spent the day at Sunset Beach Bar which was incredible. It’s right next to the airport with beach access. Nothing beats watching a plane come in right over your head as you swim in crystal clear water!”

Port Management is ecstatic about the recognition that is based on the memorable experiences that cruise passengers had pre and post September 2017 hurricanes.

“We have all worked diligently post-[Hurricane – Ed.] Irma/Maria to bring back our island … and continue to offer our visitors the experiences that they are looking for. This accolade belongs to everybody working in cruise tourism and we can all be proud of this achievement,” said Port Management.
