MARIGOT–A free self-service distribution point of potable water has been made available to consumers directly from the Galisbay production plant, as promised by water provider SAUR and water management authority EEASM as of Thursday.
SAUR reminded the public that bromates are formed in the network of pipes and are therefore not present at the production plant. The water from that point is safe to drink, according to the authorities.
This alternative distribution method, authorised and validated by regional health agency ARS, is to continue indefinitely until bromate levels in the distribution network are reduced to an acceptable or negligible level through the corrective actions that are currently being adopted.
The distribution point is open on Mondays to Fridays from 8:00am to 3:00pm.
To access the potable water, valid identification is required and persons must present their last SAUR water bill. Suitable and clean containers must be used.
Individuals are allowed to draw a maximum of 10 litres of water.
Restaurant owners are invited to be present at 8:00am with their business registration KBIS and their previous water bill.
EEASM and SAUR requests the public to respect the allowable volumes of water and to queue in an orderly fashion so that the distribution flows smoothly. Security guards will be present.
EEASM and SAUR regrets that it is not possible to make potable water deliveries in the districts.
