Préfecture issues instructions to obtain prepaid debit card

MARIGOT–The Préfecture has issued important instructions to the designated beneficiaries of the State’s pre-paid debit card.
These beneficiaries will shortly be receiving an invitation to collect the card from the Centre of Public Finances. It is imperative that they present themselves to this office on the day marked on the invitation, carrying the invitation letter, a valid ID, and a functioning cellular phone number for the French side.

For the obvious reasons of organisation and security, persons not having the above-mentioned documents will not be able to access the three teller windows dedicated for the purpose.
Once the card is delivered it will be credited automatically with the amount assigned to that beneficiary within 10 days, at which point goods can be purchased from businesses in St. Martin (French side only) or in St. Barths that accept Mastercard. The card must be used before January 31, 2018.
Some 4,000 families in the most vulnerable situations following the hurricanes are expected to benefit from this initiative announced by Prime Minister Édouard Philippe on November 6. The cards have a value of between 300 and 900 euros.
