President Gibbs receives Préfet Pierre-Etienne Bisch

MARIGOT–President of the Collectivité Daniel Gibbs received a visit from the senior Préfet of Guadeloupe Pierre-Etienne Bisch in the context of the latter’s responsibility for monitoring the presidential elections in St. Martin, St. Barths and Guadeloupe.

Bisch, who is also a delegate to the Constitutional Council, was joined by Préfète Délégué Anne Laubies, Secretary General Thierry Mahler, and Joëlle Cage who is responsible for regulations and general affairs at the Préfecture.

On the Collectivité side with President Gibbs were Director of General Services (DGS) Philippe Millon and Véronique Sapor who is in charge of the elections office.

Préfet Bisch’s job is to ensure the smooth running of the elections locally, in the first round this Saturday, and in the second round on May 6, 2017. He will be assisted by magistrates appointed by the President of the Appeals Court who will be monitoring the function of the voting stations in St. Martin.

Gibbs assured the Préfet that the services of the Collectivité in collaboration with the Préfecture have made all the necessary preparations and everything thing is in good order. All 19 voting stations will be open to the public on Saturday from 8:00am to 7:00pm, continuously.
