PHILIPSBURG–PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in the Dutch Caribbean, including St. Maarten, has been rebranded “Grant Thornton.”
Grant Thornton announced the rebranding on Tuesday, calling it a significant expansion of its network in the Dutch Caribbean. The rebranding means that PwC’s offices in Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and St. Maarten will be renamed Grant Thornton effective August 1 and will be providing coverage across the wider Dutch Caribbean, including Saba, St. Eustatius and Suriname.
“This adds considerable strength to Grant Thornton’s already solid presence in 13 locations across the Caribbean region,” it was stated in a press release. “The Dutch Caribbean is a strategically important market, with significant trade flows into the United States, as well as strong business and cultural connections with the Netherlands, and, therefore, the world’s biggest consumer market in Europe.”
The rebranding means that the former PwC firm has become the largest firm in the Caribbean for Grant Thornton. Grant Thornton in the Dutch Caribbean will be led by Steve Vanenburg and will together have five partners and 160 staff across its four offices.
“The firm has a great reputation as market leader in the Dutch Caribbean, offering a full suite of services, ranging from tax and assurance to bookkeeping, payroll and advisory services. It serves clients across a wide number of sectors, with a focus on travel, tourism and leisure and financial services,” according to the press release.
Grant Thornton International Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Bodin commented: “I am delighted to welcome such a high-quality firm into the Grant Thornton global network. There are significant growth opportunities in the region, and it is strategically important to have a strong presence in the Dutch Caribbean. With this new member firm, the Grant Thornton brand has among the best coverage in the Caribbean.”
The firm’s managing partner Steve Vanenburg said: “We are excited to become a member of the Grant Thornton organisation, which provides the perfect platform from which to achieve our growth ambitions. We are leaders in our local markets, but we understand the importance of having a strong global brand to help us keep it that way. We are very enthusiastic about the opportunity this will provide our people, our clients and the organisation.”
The senior leadership includes Steve Vanenburg (managing partner, Curaçao), Edsel Lopez (partner, Aruba), Hans Ruiter (partner, Aruba), and Herbert Beldman and Paul van Vliet (partners, St. Maarten).
