Princess pays a visit to Curaçao | THE DAILY HERALD

 

 WILLEMSTAD–Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies arrived in Curaçao to present her foundation to the people of Curaçao. The princess, who is Italian born with an international background, has been on the island twice before, for which she expressed special appreciation not only because of its beauty but also because of its people.

  Princess Camilla of Bourbon Charitable Foundation is an organisation concerned with all phenomena caused by climate change and aims to fund projects that protect the natural environment. It was established in Mauritius because of the strategical geographical position and has as goals, among others, to make the youth aware of the importance of climate change and that their contribution to improvement of the environment is essential.

  Reforestation, saving sea life and improving air quality are the main concerns of the foundation which has until now funded projects as Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA) in Mauritius, with the goal of protecting some areas and guaranteeing that the marine biodiversity is respected and not permitting invasive or destructive activity.

  The foundation has also supported with donations all kind of projects aimed at fighting plastic pollution, developing protected sea areas, conserving of endangered species and promoting innovative solutions for a sustainable earth.

  Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies paid a courtesy visit to Governor Lucille George-Wout to explain her concerns for the world environment and present the purpose of her foundation to contribute to the conservation of local nature.

  The Dutch Caribbean country suffers from pollution caused by humans, but also erosion of its beaches, mostly caused by natural phenomena.

  Camilla has paid tribute to George-Wout with a picture representing her family.

  In the afternoon the princess held a press conference at Hotel Baoase, where she made public the plans of her foundation to involve the local population in this fight against climate change. She made an appeal to everyone, especially young people, to actively participate in the conservation of their living environment and reduce contamination as much as possible.

  Camilla concluded that Curaçao can always count on the support of her foundation for any project that helps improve the environment and so the quality of life of the inhabitants of the island.
