Prominent Women (PW), an organisation established to empower women, marked International Women’s Day by recognising the contributions of nine St. Maarten women who have distinguished themselves in the community. According to PW President Ramona Riley, the third annual award ceremony, not only pays tribute to nine women but acknowledges every woman for her immense contribution to shaping the society. At a gala dinner at Belair Community Centre on Sunday, Katsiaryna Ozkan was given a Special Recognition Award, Nancy Guishard-Joubert received the AML Leadership Award, Alita Singh was awarded for her dedication as a journalist, Astrid Davelaar for Education, Farina Amjad for Lifetime Achievement, Jennifer Thomas for her work in Government, Michelette Boasman for Business, Francine Carti received the President’s Award and Mary Bryson for Family.
