EBENEZER–The Preparatory Secondary Vocational Education (PSVE) section of St. Maarten Academy on Monday urged its students to “soar” in the face of challenges to reach their full potential.

The school selected “Soar” as its theme for the new school year, which opened with 56 new students joining the school, bringing the total student population to 248.

Principal Lavern Nelson said the theme is part of what PSVE wants to help students with this academic year. She said the intention is for the entire team to adopt the theme, including staffers at the institution.

During the opening session with incoming students, Nelson told students they were different, unique and one-of-a-kind. “There is no one else like you and you should be you, and be your best self,” she said. “You are a hero. You are here and you are here every day ready and on time.”

She stressed that St. Maarten Academy PSVE is still one of the best schools and this is an added value to students.

The incoming students, along with a number of parents and guardians, attended the opening session which, as is customary, was held in the presence of teachers.
