PHILIPSBURG–Public schools hosted their annual End-of-the-Year Musical and Talent Show at L.B. Scott Sports Auditorium on Thursday from 8:30am until midday.
The Division of Public Education (DPE) hosted the event and the department’s music teachers saw the end product of months of preparations with their pupils. The school pupils danced, played steelpan, sang and played different musical instruments during the fun show.
Public Education Division head Glenderlin Davis-Holiday said the programme is a collective effort of the school managers, the division and school music teachers. Pupils have been preparing throughout the school year and the show gives them an opportunity to showcase what they learned.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School Manager Stuart Johnson congratulated the schools for a job well done and thanked the schools’ music teachers for their dedication and commitment to the programme.
Leonald Conner School teacher Charles Rollan was amazed at the level of talent displayed during the show. He congratulated the youngsters on a job well done and wanted them to continue excelling in the programme.
St. Maarten Vocational Training School (SMVTS) Director Rita Bourne-Gumbs said the programme is a great initiative of the music teachers. She said the schoolchildren love the programme and look forward to the continued success of the music programme.
The show displayed some 30 pupils and DPE thanked Geneses Sound for providing the sound at the event.
