POND ISLAND–The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) has announced that the annual inspection of public transportation vehicles will start on Monday, January 6. The inspection will take place in the parking lot next to Little League Ballpark on Soualiga Road on Pond Island.
According to the Inspectorate, public transportation permit holders are obliged to make an appointment for inspection by calling tel. 1-721-542-4511 or 1-721-542-5641.
Within two working days after successfully passing the inspection, a confirmation letter will be issued to permit holders, said the Inspectorate. These can be picked up at the TEATT Inspectorate offices, which are located at Juancho Yrausquin Boulevard # 6 in Philipsburg.
For permit holders of BUS and TAXI licence plates, persons are required to present the following documents at inspection: a copy of the permit (in Dutch, “Vergunning”); a valid coloured copy of the assistant driver’s permit; a valid coloured copy of motor vehicle insurance with an expiration date no less than six weeks from the date of inspection; a valid coloured copy of the motor vehicle inspection card with an expiration date no less than six weeks from the day of inspection; and a valid copy of the permit holder’s and assistant driver’s driving licence. Businesses must also present a copy of registration at St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COCI) and a coloured copy of each employee’s driver’s licence.
For permit holders of G and T licence plates, persons are required to present the following documents at inspection: a copy of the permit (Vergunning); a valid coloured copy of each motor vehicle insurance with an expiration date no less than six weeks from the date of inspection; a valid coloured copy of each motor vehicle inspection card with an expiration date no less than six weeks from the day of inspection; a copy of registration at COCI; and a coloured copy of each driver’s driving licence.
All car rental permit holders are requested to submit business and motor vehicle inspection and insurance documents for the upcoming 2020 inspection, said the Inspectorate in a press release on Wednesday.
According to the Inspectorate, all information is to be submitted digitally in a Microsoft Excel file. Permit holders should send a request to
teatt.transportation@sintmaartengov.org with the subject line “2020 Car Rental Inspection”.
“You will receive an e-mail response containing the file format in which the vehicle information is to be submitted and returned via email. Motor vehicle information will only be accepted in this format.
“All business documents must be submitted in PDF format, with the exception of the Excel file containing the motor vehicle information,” said the Inspectorate.
Required business documents may include a copy of a valid business licence; a copy of a valid operational licence stating the maximum number of motor vehicles the permit holder is authorised to rent; a valid motor vehicle inspection card for every motor vehicle operated under the licence in question; and a copy of valid motor vehicle insurance for every motor vehicle operated under the licence.
Required motor vehicle information may include a detailed list of data for each motor vehicle operated under the permit in question, such as vehicle make and model, year of manufacture, maximum seating capacity, vehicle identification number (VIN), and type of fuel used.
Permit holders may also be required to submit the name, phone number and e-mail address of a contact person and a list of vehicles to be added and/or removed from operation during the year.
