ST. EUSTATIUS–Queen Beatrix Medical Centre (QBMC) is set to introduce a new appointment system as of September 3, 2018. Formerly, patients who wished to see a doctor would have to travel to QBMC and register to be able to see a doctor at a later time that day. Soon, the well-known walk-in hours will become a thing of the past.
Persons used to come to QBMC at 4:00am or even earlier, hoping to get a chance to see the doctor, as only a certain number of patients were allowed to see a doctor per day, with priority given to emergencies and urgent cases. Non-urgent patients would then have to wait another day to see their doctor.
With a new appointment system, the Medical Centre hopes to alleviate this issue. QBMC management stated that every hospital has to deal with changes. As an organization, they constantly strive to tailor their care to everyone’s wishes, management said. And this, of course, brings with it, where necessary, adjustments. In order to continuously improve the quality of care towards their patients, there will be a change in their service to everyone as of September 3, 2018, QBMC said.
In their efforts to guarantee good quality care, persons can make appointments with every doctor, starting next month. To make an appointment, persons can contact the QBMC front desk at tel. 318-2371 or 319-1500. They can also choose to make their appointment in person via the front desk. Persons with medical emergencies can contact the medical emergency numbers 910 or 912. A doctor will hold daily consultations for urgencies only.
From September 3, persons will be able to see a doctor Monday through Friday, from 8:00am to 12:00pm and from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
For complaints, compliments and suggestions persons may visit the QBMC website at sehcf.org and fill in one of the online forms, or fill in one of the documents in the hospital corridor and drop these in the designated box. Persons can also make an appointment with the front desk about any issue they might have.
