ANGUILLA–During the month of October 2019 the Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) successfully seized a total of six illegal firearms and fourteen rounds of ammunitions during one week. This is a continuation of the RAPF pledge to achieve a ten per cent increase in illegal firearm and ammunition seizures in 2019.
In commenting on the officers’ success, Commissioner of Police Paul Morrison stated that such an accomplishment by the RAPF deserves special recognition, and is well worth applauding. Morrison went on to say that the benefits that can be derived from intelligence-led policing are numerous, once the principles are properly employed.
With these latest seizures the RAPF is now seeing a 40 per cent improvement in comparison to the same period in 2018, having set a Force-level target of 10 per cent.
The RAPF thanks the general public for their continued cooperation as they strive to make Anguilla safe for all.
In related news, an arrest was made on November 5 for the offence of possession of a firearm and ammunition. Tyrone Richardson Jr. (20) of North Hill was arrested and charged. He appeared before the Magistrate and was granted bail in the sum of EC $50,000 with one surety. He is due back in court on January 28 and in the meantime has to report to the Valley Police Station every Monday between 6:00am and 6:00pm.
