PHILIPSBURG–Real Auto is set to enhance the standards of the car dealership industry in St. Maarten and enhance its customer experience with the construction of a state-of-the-art US $4 million building at its Long Wall Road location.

General Manager Felix Nevarez told The Daily Herald that the plan from the onset of acquiring the business in 2016, including the buildings, was to reconstruct in keeping with the world-class operation standards and guidelines associated with the industry that Real Auto represents and to enhance the service to provide to the St. Maarten customers.

F.W. Vlaun and Son was rebranded Real Auto after it had been purchased by Dominican automotive expert Karl Nassief in 2016. The total square footage of the new building will be 32,202.

The structure will comprise reinforced concrete foundations and flooring, structural steel columns and roofing beams. Construction began in December 2018 and is expected to be completed in October 2019. Real Auto will reopen its new structure the following month in November.

Windward Roads, Taliesin Construction, Van Sluisveld Steel Project and Tony’s Air Conditioning are amongst the contractors working on the project. The new building will cost slightly more than US $4 million.

“The new facility will combine all the customer needs under one roof. It is designed following the strict guidelines and philosophies of the top brand manufacturer, with the customer experience as the number-one priority and corporate philosophy. The new facilities will be aesthetically welcoming, well insulated, energy efficient, with international quality standards. Customers will benefit from greater levels of service due to a coherency and flow of work spaces,” Nevarez said.

Temporary facilities have been put in place to facilitate customers during construction phases. The company’s Sales, Parts and Service Departments are currently operating on the property next to the construction site, in outfitted modular office containers. “We strive to provide the similar level of service to our customers throughout the construction period. Operations such as workshop, garage, and spray painting are all being carried out on schedule.”

Asked what are the company’s top three plans and goals for this year and the coming years, Nevarez said: “To maintain a strict construction budget and schedule, keep introducing new and exciting products into the market, like the Toyota Agya, Rush, Suzuki Vitara, and SCross and to strengthen our relationship with the communities of St. Maarten/St. Martin by contributing to the growth and top-quality product and world-class service – to become the best in town.”

New vehicle models that can be expected soon include the New RAV4, the New Hl-lux SR Automatic transmission and the New Suzuki Jimny.
