BEACON HILL--Sunset Bar and Grill is expanding, with construction progressing at full steam on the neighbouring plot of land formerly housing outdoor nightclub Bliss. The totally recreated property is scheduled to open on December 20.

Construction has been going on for just a few months and has been making swift progress, but has not hindered the familiar Sunset experience so far.

Sunset Manager Ramses Bislick shared the property’s improvement vision with The Daily Herald, but assured that Sunset fans still would enjoy the same concept and atmosphere. “Sunset will remain, but be complemented” by the development, he said.

However, he wanted to change one perception: that the bar is often seen as a tourist spot. Instead, it should be seen as an inclusive “refuge” for both locals and tourists, he said.

The recreated property is set to be both a day- and night-time spot, opening at breakfast time and continuing into a night-time lounge until 2:00am. Additions will include a new kitchen, a new indoor sea-view eating area, an additional bar, two shops selling different styles of clothing and accessories, and a daytime Good Life Spa.

Most of the setup at Sunset, including the popular bar and small stage used for music, will remain, as will the pool at the old Bliss property. The combined property will open up to the seaside completely. Happy Hour will be expanded to 4:00-7:00pm.

In addition to the Sunset daytime menu, there will be a new dinner menu at “The Refuge at Sunset” featuring international cuisines.
