Inauguration of the 2018 St. Maarten Youth Parliament.
- PETERS–The St. Maarten Youth Parliament will continue its full programming with a general meeting for returning and prospective members at Rupert I. Maynard Youth Community Centre in St. Peters from 4:30 to 6:30pm Friday, September 6.
The programme’s focus for 2019-2020 is “Child Protection and Sustainable Development.” Special emphasis will be placed on the application of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the importance of child and youth development and protection in sustainable development.
The recruitment of new members is ongoing. The St. Maarten Youth Parliament requests that interested youth ages 12-24 years visit Rupert I. Maynard Youth Community Centre for further information or e-mail

Training of new members will commence in September. A full-day seminar for members and prospects will be held during the October mid-term school break.
The Annual Interscholastic Debate Competition will take place in October or November.
According to a press release, the St. Maarten Youth Parliament will continue to foster greater cooperation with other regional youth parliaments and looks forward to continuing its role as a voice for St. Maarten’s youth and an agent of positive change and development.
