Red Eye Crew to perform at international zumba concert

PHILIPSBURG–The island’s top music group Red Eye Crew (REC) has been invited to perform for the Zumba Instructor Convention Zincon set to take place in Orlando, Florida, July 27-30. The group will be headlining the concert with King of Soca Machel Montano and Latin superstar Daddy Yankee.

The convention will have more than 8,000 dancers, more than 100,000 viewers on its livestream and 8,000,000 people following the social media accounts of the event.

REC song “Can you keep up” has been getting major airplay around the world during zumba sessions. Videos of dancers practicing zumba have gone viral on Instagram and Facebook.

Zincon members from around the globe have gathered in Orlando since 2008 for several action-packed days of education, networking and fun. Now celebrating its 10th year, the Zumba Convention is the place to be to connect with thousands of fellow members and learn how to become the best instructor possible.

Former headliners for Zincon included: Ashley Judd, Timbaland, Pitbull, Shaggy, Vanilla Ice, Wyclef, and many more. The convention will be hosted this year by celebrity Mario Lopez, who will be joined by his wife Courtney.

One of the highlights of Zincon is the annual Fitness Concert – a 90-minute, US $500,000 production led by zumba creator Beto Perez and his hand-selected team of zumba Instructors. REC leader Skellet said on Friday that being able to be one of the headliners at such an international event is a big deal for the island.

“I plan to invite the Tourist Bureaus from the Dutch and French sides for them to come and see what this concert is all about and see Red Eye Crew in action. We are very happy to be able to attend such a big event and proud to represent the island at the event,” Skellet said.
