Regatta invades Boardwalk with marketplace and party

 PHILIPSBURG–The party continued on the Boardwalk Boulevard on Friday evening with music and a new Boardwalk Market in the name of the 36th edition of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

page9d243Pawsitive SXM Foundation took the opportunity to inform patrons about the services it offers.

 

 

The entire boulevard was packed with sailors and locals enjoying what vendors had to offer and live entertainment by local bands.

 The Regatta celebration this year included live performances on Walter Plantz Square

 

 

Police were on hand to ensure public safety, assisted by Coast Guard and Customs officers. The second day of racing, Saturday, March 5, features four separate race courses, with most of the racing taking place South of St. Maarten. The scheduled finish for the last race is the Heineken Finish in Simpson Bay.

Xplotion band rocked the event with their energetic performance.

 

 

 

 The party action moves to Kim Sha Beach with Mixmaster Pauly, Honeypot, Orange Grove, Ziggy Recado and Rock City.

The final day of racing, Sunday, March 6, has just one race scheduled for all classes. The final party at Kim Sha Beach kicks off at midday. The Prize-Giving Ceremony starts at 6:00pm and the party goes on well into the night with The Cut Creator, DJ Outkast, The Cornerstone, Youth Waves Band and the big act of the Regatta, multi-award-winning rapper Akon.
