René-Jean Duret candidate for ‘Blank Vote Party’ for Legislative Elections

MARIGOT–René-Jean Duret, retired engineer, expert in international technical cooperation and President of the St. Martin Sea Rescue Station SNSM has been chosen as the candidate of the “Blank Vote Party” for the upcoming Legislative Elections.   Marie-Paule Rousseau-Cornette, after working for 20 years as Sales Manager in an Information Technology (IT) company, is General Delegate in charge of Integration at Centre Symphorien d’Insertion (CSI) in French Quarter and has agreed to be his substitute.   The pair is holding a public conference on Sunday, May 21, at 7:00pm in the Chamber of Commerce building, Rue Jean-Jacques Fayel, and Concordia, to introduce themselves and present their programme.

“The record of abstentions at the last elections leads the ‘Blank Vote Citizens’ to propose an alternative solution by personifying the ‘Blank Vote’ into a vote for a ‘Parti du Vote Blanc’ candidate,” a press release explained.

“The purpose is also to encourage all those who are disappointed by the proposed political offerings or who do not recognise themselves in their representatives to vote for the “Blank Vote Party” candidates:

“From ‘Blank Vote’ Party’s point of view, there is another more important objective; to convert the actual representative democracy into a participative one, in which the citizen will be again at the centre of choices and political decisions, thanks to the new technologies of IT and communication.

“The purpose is not to encourage voters to vote white or to campaign against the candidates of other political parties. Everyone is free to vote for the party or candidate of their choice.”

This conference will be followed by a drink party.
