MARIGOT–Emergency repairs of damage done to the Sandy Ground Bridge during Hurricane Irma are due to take place from this coming Monday, December 11, to Saturday, December 16.
Motorists may occasionally encounter long delays between these dates while the drawbridge is tested with new parts.
Boats can enter or leave Simpson Bay Lagoon via Sandy Ground while the repair work is in progress, but the hours and days when this will be permitted are to be announced during the week.
Bridge openings will be limited to 30 minutes. Entry or exit is only possible on prior request.
Boat captains wishing to pass through the bridge are advised to contact SAMAGEST no later than 3:00pm Wednesday, December 13, to obtain a rendezvous. A cell phone number and/or valid email address is required.
For all requests to pass through the bridge, call 590 690 66.16.56 or e-mail

The SAMAGEST offices in the SEMSAMAR building, second floor, opposite Fort Louis Marina are open Monday to Sunday from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Repairs are also envisaged to include a layer of asphalt and replacing road barriers, guardrails and traffic/maritime warning lights. When repairs are completed a new opening schedule for the bridge will be implemented and communicated to the public.
