Represented at state visit | THE DAILY HERALD

Minister Plenipotentiary Jorien Wuite recently attended a roundtable meeting, working lunch and state dinner held by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima for Cape Verde President Jorge Carlos de Almeide Fonseca and First Lady Ligia Dias Fonseca in the Netherlands.

Of particular interest at the events were security, climate change and the maritime or blue economy. Cape Verde has been proactive in its efforts to ensure a continued global platform for the vulnerabilities and opportunities of small island developing states (SIDS). Wuite spoke about sustainable tourism at the roundtable. According to a press release her contributions were appreciated, as she was approached about the intention to include St. Maarten in a follow-up meeting in the future. She invited the Cape Verdean officials to join her on a special diplomatic visit to St. Maarten for the 50th anniversary of Carnival, as Cape Verde enjoys life with similar cultural festivities. Wuite also attended and spoke during the working lunch about climate change hosted by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
