PHILIPSBURG–Residents and businesses were on Monday busy finalizing their preparations for the passage of Hurricane Maria, which is forecast to pass the island on Tuesday, September 19.
Persons were busy picking up last minute items from supermarkets, many of which were open. Around the country, many clean-up crews were busy doing some last minute clean up of debris left from Hurricane Irma.
Some businesses were busy finalizing works to replace their broken glass with concrete blocks, while some stores and residents were reinforcing their entrances. Many residents were also busy securing tarpaulins on their roofs and engaged in other preparatory works to their homes.
The roadways were abuzz with activity as many residents were on the road trying to get last minute things done in preparation for the storm.
