PHILIPSBURG–Retired bodybuilder Emmanuel Richardson is the owner of Body Action SXM gym located on Cannegieter Street across from FW Vlaun and Sons and above the Car parts store.
“I am the last owner of this gym,” said Richardson. The facility has been
a gym on and off for years.
“I have been in and out of a lot of gyms. I know what it takes to run a gym. This one will succeed,” says Richardson with a big smile.
Body Action is both a Personal and Group Training Center with a large matted exercise room and two rooms with machines and weights. One room is dedicated just for the ladies.
Richardson has been a top bodybuilder. He knows how to sculpt the body as well as how to achieve results.
“I’m honest with people,” said Richardson. “If someone comes in and expects to take off a lot of weight in a few short visits, I tell them It took you a long time to put it on it will take time to take it off. But I can help you take off the weight and keep it off.”
He pauses, “It is important not to lie or give the person false hope.”
He continued to explain training is all about setting realistic goals and working toward them.
“I like working with athletes,” said Richardson. While he specializes in bodybuilding he can help any athlete train for any sport. Currently is working with Hendrik Ekema who will be competing in the World Tae kwon do Championships to be held in England in July.
“I have competed at a very high level in Europe and done well,” said Ekema who has fought for the Dutch national team. “But this man has trained me hard. My condition now is better than it ever has been.”
Body Action is open Monday to Friday from 5:00am to 10:00pm and Sunday from 7:00am to 2:00pm.
