MARIGOT– L’Etablissement des Eaux et de l’Assainissement de St. Martin (EEASM) announced on Sunday that rehabilitation of the water network started in August 2016 in the centre of Marigot is now coming to an end.
Due to technical reasons the company that will carry out the resurfacing of the finished streets will not be able to complete the job on November 30 as forecast, but Rue de la Liberté will be surfaced during the day on Friday, December 2, and will reopen to traffic on Saturday, December 3.
Resurfacing of Rue Kennedy and Rue Palais de Justice will be done on Saturday, December 3, and both will reopen afterwards.
“EEASM thanks the population and the shopkeepers in Marigot for their patience and understanding. The work took a long time, but it was vital work that had to be done due to the catastrophic state of the network,” EEASM stated in a press release.
“The workmen did everything possible to finish on time but unfortunately the final resurfacing phase depends entirely on the availability of the only company on the Dutch side having the materials for resurfacing.”
“EEASM presents its apologies to the businesses in Marigot for the extra two days of delay,” EEASM added.
