PHILIPSBURG–A homeowner on Pin Cushion Cactus Drive in Sucker Garden had a rough Saturday morning when two unknown men knocked on his door at 4:00am. According to police, when the homeowner opened the door, the men demanded cash from him, and later on they shot him in the leg and arm.
The police report that the shooting incident took place in the vicinity of Lulu’s Garage.
According to the victim, when he opened the door he was suddenly attacked by two unknown men, one of them carrying a gun. He was threatened by the man with the gun, who ordered him to hand over his money. He refused to do so and ran away from the robbers.
The homeowner returned to his home shortly afterward and saw that the robbers were still there and were busy stealing his scooter. The robbers fired several shots at him, injuring him in his left arm and leg, and fled the scene taking the scooter with them.
Patrols, detectives, forensic investigators and paramedics were sent to the scene to investigate what had taken place. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics, taken to St. Maarten Medical Center for further medical treatment and admitted to the hospital for observation.
Police immediately cordoned off the area to allow detectives to speak to potential witnesses and the forensic Investigators to collect evidence.
Police are on the lookout for the robbers.
