Roxxy – Anguilla Calypso Monarch 2019.
ANGUILLA–Roxxy (Roxanna Webster) is the new Calypso Monarch for Anguilla. She won the contest on Tuesday, August 6, with her two calypsos: “Chances” and “Feeling Shame”. The first runner-up was Hot Shot and second runner-up, last year’s monarch Springer.
Roxxy will represent Anguilla at the Leeward Islands Calypso Monarch competition on Saturday, August 10. There will be eight islands/countries/territories in the competition: Antigua; St. Kitts; Nevis; St. Thomas, the US Virgin Islands; Montserrat; St. Maarten; the British Virgin Islands (BVI); and Anguilla. They will compete against the reigning monarch Queen Thalia from Antigua.
Musical arrangements for the show will be provided by the All Star Band under the direction of Cliffette Isaac from St. Kitts and Wibert Brooks of St. Thomas. The band will include talented musicians from Anguilla and St. Maarten.
Representing Antigua will be De Bear, from St. Kitts Miss Independent, King Hollywood from Nevis and Nikki Smith from St. Thomas. Sylk will represent Montserrat, with Empress Lee from St. Maarten and King Paido from the BVI.
